Research shows that tourists visiting the state of Hawaii are looking for the following things: easy, value, safe, clean were listed in a 2007 study conducted to find out what it is that tourists are looking for. There were five categories that filtered to the top. Number 2 was new discoveries/unique things to do and see. 3. Entertainment/nightlife, 4. Active recreational choices and 5. Romantic, family, friendly, relaxing. Even with all of these things addressed it appears that the number of tourists for the state will decrease approximately 6.7 percent for 2008. For 2009 both visitor arrivals and visitor days are predicted to decrease 0.8 percent while visitor expenditures are forecast to increase 2.9 percent from 2008.
In 2008 visitor arrivals in Hawaii should reach (thousands) 7,116 while expectations for 2009 are anticipated to be (thousands) 7,062. Visitor expenditures (million dollars) in 2008 are anticipated to reach 11,994 while in 2009 they are expected to reach (millions) 12,339.
Looking at the numbers it is anticipated that 2008 will show a decrease of 6.9 percent in visitor arrivals and for 2009 a -0.8 percent. Although he number of arrivals may drop the anticipated income generated from the visitor expenditures will increase slightly.
It may well be a fabulous time to take that trip to Hawaii. With Hawaii tourism having dropped a bit you may be able to get some special deals, shop around and then go enjoy the state!
