Cheap Vacation Hawaii Pursuit
One of the big challenges when looking for something like cheap vacation Hawaii is that you will come across sites that will lure you in with stories about how great the vacation is going to be and then start adding on "extras" to make the cost higher than you want to pay. A cheap Hawaii vacation doesn’t have to be awful; it can, and should, be something to make memories that will be enjoyed for years to come.
When you step off the plane at the Big Island you will see lava flows that create the unique nature of the Island. You aren’t on the moon, you are really in Hawaii! Landing at Kona International Airport you will experience the first glow of what is to come when you are greeted with a lei and welcomed to the Island.
Visiting the beaches on the Big Island is something that you can do that isn’t going to cost you a fortune (unless you buy everything being sold around the beach area that you really don’t need and probably will wonder what got into you when you get home.) Due to the extensive volcanic activity on the Island the number of natural beaches is limited. The positive side of this is that with the creations made by the volcanoes the opportunities for divers, fishermen and boaters is boundless. Being able to fish where there is an outcropping of volcanic rock will test the skills of the best fishermen while affording divers a chance to see beautiful underwater terrain and fish that make this area their home. Boaters will be able to see the Island in a manner that you just don’t get when you are on land. The diversity of the shoreline will interest even the most casual boater.
Cheap Hawaii vacations can consist of spending the majority of your time on the beach or wandering around and looking at the natural beauty of the Island. With the unique and varied topography, active volcanoes, lava rock fields, fabulous waterfalls, quaint towns and the beautiful green of the lush tropical island you will be able to keep yourself occupied with a camera and notebook for days without entering one of the nightclubs or museums.
When you have had enough of the beach scene, if that is possible, you can find activities from visiting the museums that tell the history of the Islands, splurging a little and taking a ride on a submarine to see the beauty nature has put beneath the water (it isn’t as expensive as you may think and it is probably a once in a lifetime experience so scrimp on dinner a couple of nights and give this a go.) You may want to join with those going whale watching (December – April) and see Humpback Whales which can be as long as 45 feet and weight 80,000 pounds. The Hawaiian Island chain is one of the most important habitats for the endangered North Pacific Humpback Whale and offers the opportunity for some of the best whale watching in the world. Hawaii is the only place in the US where Humpbacks breed, calve and nurse their young so you won’t get a chance to see it anyplace else. The cost is usually under $100 for the tour and well worth it, even when you are on an affordable Hawaii vacation.
There are other islands in the chain that you will want to check out, but starting out on the Big Island isn’t going to make you wish you had stayed home. Just watch what you spend (it can get away from you in a hurry), do some of the activities that are free, do a lot of sightseeing and visiting with other travelers and you will find that your cheap vacation Hawaii Pursuit has proven to be all you wished for without breaking the bank.
